Notice that the tablature staff is smaller in the following example than it was in the previous examples. The size of the numbers remains the same. The size and style of guitar Tab can vary quite a bit from book to book, but this makes no difference to the way you read it.
Here are two examples which make use of half notes, quarter notes and eighth notes. Use alternate picking when playing the eighth notes.
Take care with the picking in bars 3 and 4 of this example. Remember to play a downstroke on the beat and an upstroke off the beat when playing the eighth notes. The symbol A5 above the music indicates a power chord. These are discussed in lesson 10.
This pattern of notes will probably sound familiar. It is a commonly used bass line. End this 12 Bar Blues by playing a G note or chord. Use alternate picking when playing the notes.
