

To play the note B, pick the open 2nd string.


Play the C note with the first finger of your left hand just behind the first fret of the 2nd string.


Play the D note with the third finger of your left hand just behind the third fret of the 2nd string.
Ex. 3.0 introduces the half note (or minim) 1 which is worth two counts. In bar 8 the half notes are played on the first and third beats, as indicated by the count. This exercise is 8 bars long. Also note the small bar numbers written below the staff.
