Root 5 Minor Seventh Bar Chord

Am7

The root 5 minor seventh bar chord is based upon the open A minor seventh (Am7) chord which also has a commonly used optional note.

If this open shape is played as a bar chord on the fifth fret it becomes a Dm7 chord, and an Em7 if played on the seventh fret. See the following diagrams.

The first time through this progression use the standard fingering. On the repeat use the optional fingering.
