The fall-off (or trail-off) involves a slide trailing away from the note you have just played. The fall off may go down or up from a note. It has a definite starting point but no definite finishing point. Fall-offs are indicated by a diagonal wavy line moving downwards or upwards away from the original note, as shown below.
