Solace is a piece from the Ragtime era (1890-1910) written by Scott Joplin, the most famous of all Ragtime composers. Solace is quite different to most Joplin solos as it does not have a distinct Ragtime sound to it. Although this piece uses a Ragtime chord progression, Solace sounds more like a Mexican serenade, as its sub-title suggests.
Solace was originally written for Piano but like many other Ragtime pieces adapts well to the guitar.
