Open D Tuning

Open D tuning is another popular tuning. To tune the guitar to this tuning the first, second and sixth string are lowered a tone (two frets) and the third string is lowered a semitone (one fret).

There are also some basic chords that are useful to know in open D tuning.

As with open G tuning it is also useful to understand the different fingering for the open D tuning Blues scale.
