^ Time

Many popular songs are written in ^ Time. This is often called Waltz Time and indicates three quarter note beats per bar. In ^ time the first beat of each bar is emphasized, as such:

To give this feeling (called Lilt) place the bass drum on the first beat and the hi-hat (closing with the foot) on the following two beats.
