The SINGLE PARADIDDLE consists of two groups of four notes (e.g., sixteenth notes) played either RLRR LRLL or LRLL RLLRR. As the single paradiddle is not played strictly alternating (i.e., RLRLRL etc.) certain solos and fills can be played faster and more comfortably when moving around the kit.
The following exercises are single paradiddles with the accent placed on different beats. Practice each exercise starting firstly with the right hand and then with the left hand.
In the following exercises the accents are replaced by the tom toms.
